New Line of “Green” HP Printers

HP has jumped onto the green-tech bandwagon with gusto. Their new line of business printers sport “deep sleep” power saving modes, a carbon footprint calculator, and even a model of printer made (almost) entirely out of recycled materials. Perhaps this is a sign of the times and our boot screen will soon display our current carbon footprint; computer manufacturers will compete like paper companies on post-consumer content ratings.

Of course, the best way to print eco-friendly is avoiding it altogether. With electronic billing, electronic invoices, and online receipts more business means less paper; our personal paper trail dwindles to electron dust. But in the meantime, until everything and everybody is RFID tagged, what are you doing to move toward the paperless office? How much is a “green” printer a hot selling point for you?
