Test driving the Tesla

Ok, so this may not directly affect recycling computers but Tesla Motors, the cool kids who revived the electric car as a porsche-stomping speed demon, have officially announced the Model-S. The five-passenger sedan will run 225 miles on a single charge and drain you $60k. There are no official pictures or specifications but it is likely to be based off of the upcoming Lotus Eagle. The now production worthy Roadster takes its cues as well as a lot of its design elements from the Lotus Elise.

Perhaps more exciting is the teaser that the company is working one a sub-$30k all electric vehicle to be in production in less than four years. The details seem a bit more hazy on this model but the possibilities are amazing.

The Tesla roadster is passe and dead meat - the $20K Fisker 2+2 is better looking, faster, and actually can take you places beyond that paltry 100 mile driving radius that Tesla’s $30K , 5 year battery pack of obsolete 1st gen li ion batteries can take you. NOW you know why Tesla brought their hopeless lawsuit against Fisker.
They had planned to make a plug-in hybrid like the Fisker, but don’t have the engineering abilities -
what’s left of Tesla will sink like a rock when the Fisker hits the streets. And it won’t be a year late like the Tesla was and will actually have all of its parts (like a trnasmission, for example) when it’s produced. It will be built by the same company that makes several OEMs, including the Porsche Boxster, a car that can wipe up the Tesla with its now-anemic 0 to 60 over 6 second acceleration. Looks like Tesla never understood what I thought every 7 year old could comprehend : without a good battery, you can’t build a good electric car. Every single electric vehicle for the past 100 years has failed for exactly the same reason. Tesla thought that by making an electric faster, they could con the public. They could, but only our brainless younger generation, who apparently don’t understand what functions an automobile must provide, and overpaid, underachieving, mediocre, and over-the- hill Hollywood actors like Gooney and Begley and Hanks looking to greenwash their image. What a conglomeration of morons!!!

The only Fisker electric (or plug-in hybrid) that I know about it over $80k which puts it in the same category (in my mind at least) as the Tesla roadster which has a driving radius of 200+ miles. I would love so more information and perhaps a link or two to information about this $20k plug-in electric. Sounds like great follow-up material!
