Venture Capital Comes Clean: CleanLoop Wants YOU!
June 24, 2008 at 3:48 pm | Filed under: Recycling News, TechnoBlogAccording to a recent survey, venture capital investments in Cleantech topped $3billion globally in 2007. With all that money flowing into new startups trying to capitalize on the rise of interest in solar panels, alternative energy, and new “greener” technologies most recruitment specialists are predicting a shortage of qualified employees. In particular qualified CEO’s and CTO’s are hard to find as the energy and technology markets realign themselves with a more environmentally conscious mindset.
CleanLoop, a new service from VentureLoop, is looking to change all that. They are a job search site devoted specifically to the “cleantech” job search world. Their purpose statement draws a distinction between green companies–which they classify as non-profit and advocacy companies–and cleantech, which are for profit companies. With their professional pedigree it also stands to reason that they are heavily targeting the start-up and venture capital arena. A cursory glance through their slight job listing database includes positions from companies both obscure and well known hinting that the nascent start up may be on to something.
With the glut in job search sites, is there enough of a specialized need for a cleantech (and greentech for that matter) job recruiter site? Cleanloop itself admits that studies show many of the cleantech jobs being filled with people from unrelated, or parallel, fields.
